you seem to have read the JG 300 history - I think you've answered your own question in your second paragraph! II.(Sturm)/JG300 aces with multiple P-51 vics (Bauer claimed three on that sortie alone didn't he?) would potentially have flown a standard A-8 (with erhoehte Notleistung). None of the photos of 'Kornjarck' I've seen show any Sturmbock additions.. |

Hi!
Yes, I have seen Bauers A-8 ”Rote 3 Kornjark” Wnr 171 641, but this was not the machine he flew on that epic day of 11 sept-44, it was “Rote 21” Wnr 681 469. I have not seen any picture of this machine, and therefore I do not know if it is a “Sturmböcke” or not. It would be quite a feat to accomplish the downing of three Mustangs flying this heap of bricks. All the best, Angantyr |
