Re: P-47 42-70251 lost over Belgium

Unfortunately, no P-47 with the s/n 42-70251 is listed in the inventory of the USAAF. We have a P-47 of 366th FG, which wrote off a P-47 on 31st August 1944 with the AAF-s/n 42-76251. The status of this a/c is MIA on microfilm No. A5686, page 396 of AFHRA. Unfortunately, no MARCA of the incident exists and the event obviously happened in Belgium on liberated territory. You may probably gain more information by sources, related to the 366th Fighter Group. All the best ! Horst Weber
