Ignoring the difference between combat and operational sortie is lowering the quality by itself. It is not about the numbers but about the knowledge behind the numbers.
If we consider the official history as the last word, how about Blenheims, Defiants and Gladiators, that were very much operational during the Battle? The question about how many RAF Squadrons were involved in actual combat still stands unanswered. |
