S/L Ronald William ATKINSON, DFC: (43537)
Hi, Forumites.
Does any one have information on this officer. He was a PR pilot and, at the time of his death, (14/8/'44)was flying with 16 Sqn. He was cremated at the Golders Green Crematorium, suggesting his death was caused by an accident, rather than in action. Tia Andy Bigweeker |

Re: S/L Ronald William ATKINSON, DFC: (43537)
Hi Andy,
You are correct in thinking Atkinson was killed in an accident, he was hit by the prop of a Spitfire on the ground (he was on foot and walked through the propellor arc). He had only took over command of 16 Sqn the previous day. Best Regards Andy Fletcher
