Translation of German script required
Hi to all,
Have attached two photos of script I found in a Luftwaffe photo album, can anyone please tell me what it says? The photos show two damaged Ju 88's and I am trying to locate details so that I can add them to our website. Kind regards, Melvin www.aircrewremembrancesociety.com Last edited by Melvin Brownless; 22nd March 2012 at 02:03. |

Re: Translation of German script required
Hi,
1st one: During a air attack on Paris ( 4-4-43) the machine ( aircraft ) from Lt Klossmann got under fire from our own fighters. 2nd one: Unfortunately hard to read, but it seems an aircraft made a forces landing near Rimmes(?) regards, Mathieu. |

Re: Translation of German script required
Hello,
2nd one: During a night flight for testing the "Nachtbildgerät" (don't know how to translate that) the crew of Olt. Kirschner made a force landing near Reims (night of 5th April to 6th April 1943). The crew was unhurt. rgds, Bf 110 Last edited by Bf 110; 29th December 2010 at 21:57. Reason: grammatical errors fixed |

Re: Translation of German script required
Second one almost (who can fill in the gaps?):
"Bei einem Erprobungsflug des Nachtbildgerätes muss die Besatzung Oblt ....in der Nacht von 5. auf 6.4.43 (i.e. night of 5/6 April 1943) bei Rennes notlanden. Die Besatzung bleibt unverletzt." regards, Marcel Last edited by Marcel van Heijkop; 29th December 2010 at 21:27. Reason: spelling |

Re: Translation of German script required
"Reims" seems indeed more correct than "Rennes".

Re: Translation of German script required
Hi all, some corrections from a hun ;-) (sorry!)
#1 Während des engl. Luftangriffes auf Paris am 4.4.43 wurde die Maschine von Lt. Klussmann [not Klossmann] von eigenen Jägern beschossen. During the british air raid onto Paris on 4.4.43 the aircraft of Lt. Klussmann [not Klossmann] was shot at by own (german) fighter aircraft. #2 Bei einem Erprobungsflug des Nachtbildgerätes muss die Besatzung Oblt. Kirschner in der Nacht vom 5. auf 6.4.43 bei Reims notlanden. Die Be- satzung bleibt unverletzt. During a test flight of Nachtbildgerät (night immaging device) the crew of Oberleutnant Kirschner the night of 5./6.4.43 had to make forced landing near Reims. The crew remained unhurt. happy new 2011, nice greetings FrankieS |

Re: Translation of German script required
Many thanks for the corrections FrankieS!
Attached are the images of the aircraft. Picture 1 shows the damage afflicted to Lt. Klussmann's Ju 88. 2nd picture shows Oblt. Kirchner's Ju 88D-1, possibly Werke Nr.430364 60% damaged due to notlandung infolge techn mangel on the 05.04.43. I hope the pictures are of interest.
