Unknown Ju 52 emblem (1939/1940)
Hello,

Attached are two (blurred) photos taken in early 1940. The same emblem is painted on both Ju 52. Do you have any ideas on the unit (KGzbV, FFS C, BFS?)? The emblem presumably shows a wild boar, pig, hare or panther.

Looks like the running hare emblem belonging to 15./KGzbV1

Hi

I agree with Peter that it is the running hare. However the Ketley/Rolfe attribution to 15./KGzbV1 may not be totally accurate. Below is a (old eBay) photo of a Ju52/3m with the emblem but the code (1Z)+EX which would have been 13./KGzbV 1.

I have images of 1Z+HZ 1Z+FZ and 1Z+IZ with this emblem so I believe Ketley & Rolfe to be accurate on this emblem belonging to 15./KGzbV1

...Yes 15./KGzbV1 used the hare as an emblem, I am not dissagreeing with this, but my photo 'suggests' that it may have had wider use than just this staffel.
