Q: Markings on 11./KG200 FW190F-8
Hi all!
It is fairly "common" knowledge that III/KG200 stayed in Stavanger/Sola for a short while, in February/March 1945. During this period they were working up for a BT700 attack, an attack that eventually was cancelled. During this period 11./KG200 lost/damaged one FW190F-8 at Sola, Wknr 933064, flown by Gefr Josef Wupping. According to E. Knutsson it was marked < E. I have also seen mentioned the loss of one FW190 off Denmark, same unit, that was marked < C (if I remember correctly). Apparently (From other discussions on this forum) the aircraft of KG200 carried various markings. Any qualified guesses on what the marking < E (and C) could possibly mean? My non-qualified points to ponder: - Could they have been aircraft from I./SG5 (From which the unit 11./KG200 formed), still marked with typical SG-markings (maybe an E before the cross and a triangle behind it? - Could the < be a typical adjutant chevron? In that case, would the chevron be right in front of the letter - all in front of the cross? Any input on typical KG200 markings would be helpful. Regards, Kyrre
