Unknown German Aircraft with DB600
Hi guys,
I have an original blueprint, dated 1938. It features this aircraft. Engine is a DB600 with 2 bladed prop. Also has 1 MG firin through the prop hub. Number on the print shows the aicraft as possibly having a "19" as the suffix (8-19.00-02) Overall, looks like a slight shorter Me109... ![]() Any ideas on this? TIA.. Mike |

Re: Unknown German Aircraft with DB600
This is a project drawing of a planned Bf 109D with DB 600 later cancelled and changed to a B/C like version with Jumo 210Ga
Overall dimensions are ok. According to factory dwg Bf 109A/B with Schwarz prop had 8700mm in length, Bf 109B with VDM prop - 8670 mm The provided drawing has very close dimensions. Also note that rudder and fin dimensions exactly match 109B/C/D/E rudder and fin dimensions. |

Re: Unknown German Aircraft with DB600
Hi!
Normally, I woud agree...but... here is another more detailed shot... As you can see, the wheel size is not correct for the main wheels...there are no trim wheels in the cockpit...fuel tank is under the pilot seat...battery is in the same location as an Me109G14/G10...and there are no MG's in the upper engine cowling... hmmmmmm... ![]() |

Re: Unknown German Aircraft with DB600
If genuine... it would be a Wiener Neudstadt 19, unfortunately WNF did not build 109 before the E-1 and certainly not in 1938.
Are you 100% it's genuine ? |

Re: Unknown German Aircraft with DB600
"Institut für Aeromechanik und Flugtechnik T.H. Hannover"
T.H. means "Technische Hochschule" i.e. "Technical college". The date is not readable but I´d guess the later 30`s. Maybe it´s a practise drawing of a student made at the Chair for aeromechanics and flight technics. Regards Roland |

Re: Unknown German Aircraft with DB600
Hi all!
100% it is genuine. I have added extra photos. Interesting... The blueprint then does coincide with a WN19...but I have never heard of that aircraft. Is there any more information on it anywhere? |

Re: Unknown German Aircraft with DB600
Well, not offical but original. What happened to Helmut F.Weitzmann? Did he joined any aircraft company? Fought in WWII? Was alive after the conflict? Anyway an interesting piece of history, not?
Who knows he´s alive and could be contacted or at last a relative?

Re: Unknown German Aircraft with DB600
Stephen,
yes, that´s Hannover University (german spelling with two "n") For those who are more interested, here´s the website of AKAFLIEG Hannover with links to other German AKAFLIEGs: http://www.akaflieg-hannover.de/ Hope this helps! I don´t know anything about Helmut Weitzmann - maybe someone has an idea how to pick up the thread... Regards Roland |
