Re: help in identifying this hurricane and pilot
Hi Simon113.
Very interested to see the photo of the Hurricane, I also have a copy of this. It was one of the few photo's i have that was owned by my mothers uncle, he served in the Royal Air Force. He was posted to the Middle East in March 1944 arriving at Abu Suier on the 20th of May on his way to serve with 17 squadron in Burma. I also have no idea as to the identity of the Aircraft, although it looks like a 11c with one cannon removed, tropical filter and extra fuel tanks. The serial number appears to begin with HV but then the first number could be 3 or 5, both fall into the range for Hurricanes. Best wishes Hurri600 |
