Dear David,
Two RAF Spitfire squadrons were involved in combat on 10 September 1943. 0940-1200 over Salerno 154 Squadron met four Bf 109s. Flt Lt W.I.H.Maguire claimed two shot down; Flt Sgt N.S.Ewart was MIA. Same area 111 Squadron encountered two FW 190s; one claimed by Flg Off I.F.Kennedy and Sgt H.S. Eccleston jointly. You say you already have the Fleet Air Arm Seafire claims. You will find notes on Maguire and Kennedy in 'Aces High', and Eccleston in 'Those Other Eagles'. 'Hap' Kennedy also wrote an excellent autobiography, 'Black Crosses off my Wingtip'.
