Hi Dénes,
"Lots of 109s" in the Gifhorn area might point to remnants of one of the replacement JGs. According to a quick search of M.Holms site some parts of them were disbanded at places near Gifhorn (Braunschweig and Helmstedt) shortly before the war's end: II./JG 105, II./JG 107 and I./JG 110. Maybe the planes found at Gifhorn have belonged to one or more of those units. Do you have any ID's for those planes? What's the source for your info? Cheers, Christian
