Hello Rudi,
To my knowledge it is not Avord. The wood is much denser close to the water tower at Avord and on this airfield it is improbable to be able to take picture of a plane with the water tower so close in background. Additionally I don’t have the memory of this unit on this airfield. At the mentioned period the KG 54 could be in Evreux-Fauville or Saint-Andre de l’Eure (16 mi. Re: Water tower on Luftwaffe airfield in France
In my photo book of French airplanes captured by the Germans in May-June 1940, there is a photo of a similar water tower on page 24, centre. It is identified as located on Vertain airfield.
