Although the G-2/R1 installation was never very successful, either in the anti-tank role for which it was initially designed or in the anti-bomber role it ended up in, in August 1943 the RLM decreed that 43 110G-3s and 107 110 G-2s were to be converted to G-2/R1 configuration. It is uncertain as to how many a/c were modified under this order, but it is known that a small number were used by ZG 76 during the early months of 1944--sorry but I don't have any specific coding or W.Nr.. Although the a/c initially used the small rudder, at least one photo shows the use of the large rudder.

The rear gun installation was retained.
