Re: Stubendorf base
Hello!
Stubendorf was a Luftwaffe air base but was in Poland (name is now Izbicko). There were four large hangars whose locations are still visible, and for one of them its concrete base. This does not mean it was a transport base, such a configuration was typical for all German bases of the thirties...According to Nick Beale in one paper on the use of the CR-42 in the NSGr 9 Stubendorf was Night/Blind flying training base, which makes a lot of sense considering its remoteness from the front(s).
