III./SG 1 ops on 16/4/45
On 16th April, 1945 III./SG 1 aircraft were probably attacking Russian forces east of Oder river. At least three 1-hour long missions were made by 8. Staffel (at 10.00, 14.00 and 18.00).
What was the target of III./SG 1 on that day? In which area was it operating? |

Re: III./SG 1 ops on 16/4/45
We do not know precisely what III./SG 1 was doing that day but, refering to Volume 2 of our book Dive-Bomber and Ground-Attack Units of the Luftwaffe, we see that as of:
April: now at Barth, Neubrandenburg and Wismar, under 1. Fliegerdivision, flew operations north and northwest of the Berlin area. 5 April: operations in the Zelliner area/65 km east-north-east of Berlin. From April 16th: struck at Soviet spearheads driving across Mecklenburg toward the Elbe and the coast at Wismar. 26 April: now at Flensburg-Weiche in Schleswig-Holstein. We hope that this clarifies the situation. HLdZ DGS |

Maybe nothing specific, but thank you. Next small step forward. What may be interesting for other users, that day 8. Staffel was operating from Oranienburg.
