Roderick Küppers, SD and KIA 13.5.40, and his successor, Oblt. Günther Schmidt, who was SD and WIA on 11.6.40. Neither of these could have run up seven victories during the FC. It appears that Hptm. Max Graf Hoyos succeeded Oblt. Schmidt, and subsequently took command of 8./ZG76 in July. However, he was SD and killed on Aug. 12th, so he would have been unlikely to have scored enough victories to be the pilot of 2N+AN with the 7-victory scoreboard. He is, however, believed to have scored at least a couple of victories during the FC. It appears that the aircraft in question must have been flown by Hoyos' successor, who, although unknown, was a highly successful pilot during the Battle of Britain. So who was this pilot?
Larry:

I think You are talking about Bf110C 2N+AN, pictured in "Zerstorer: The Messerschmitt 110 and its Units in 1940" by J.Vasco and P.Cornwell?

Page 40. Bf110C, 2N+AN (A black outlined in white), with 7 blank white victory bars. A/c wears early style "green splinter" camou.

Page 192. Bf110C, 2N+AN (A black outlined in white), with 6 or 7 blank white victory bars. A/c wears early style "green splinter" camou.

WHAT IF 2N+AN IS NOT an aircraft of StaffelKapitan?

Now look on this a/c (it is not 1940 period, but anyway

Fw. Herbert Kutscha flew Bf110E S9+AN during 22.6.41 - at least early 1942 (5./ZG1 leaved Orel-West Fl.Pl. in January 1942, and left crippled S9+AN there), when he got new Bf110 S9+NN (S9+AN was Oblt. Viedebannt's aircraft for summer 1942). You may see tail removing works on photo below.

Victory bars are blank white, so we are not sure, what nation were of victims - RAF, Holland AF, or Swiss.
