Uffz Karl Castens, 5/KG40, Lost 07.06.44.

On 16.07.44. the body of Karl Castens was recovered from the sea south east of the Isle of Wight, an unknown airman was found together with him, but his EM number 65061/46 does not match any other member of Castens crew, who was he?
Both were re-buried at sea by the Royal Navy.
Joe

The other one should be Lt Heinz Schulz from Do 217K-3, WNr. 4708 of 9./KG 100, who was shot down east from Balfleur by AA on 10.06.1944.

Regards,

Matti

Hi Matti,
Thanks very much, the NVM for this crew is vital, I have info from a very good source that Lt Schul or Schulz, Uffz Hans Daus and Obergefr Heinz Neumann are listed as missing, one crew member survived, so I must find a copy of the NVM to confirm the EM 65061/46.
Joe.

This EKM is from the NVM. According to this NVM, FF Lt Schulz, BO Uffz Hans Daus and BM Ogfr Heinz Neuman are MIA and BF Fw Werner Netsch unwounded.

Regards,

Matti
