2 Marylands shot down by Bf109s
Hello Brian
13 January 1942: Leutnant Alfred Wehmeyer of Stab III./ZG 26 a Blenheim at 15:50 in sea southwest of Malta at 10 meters (9) Oberfeldwebel Otto Polenz of 9./ZG 26 a Blenheim at 14:41 in sea southwest of Malta at 500 meters (3) 12 February 1942: Leutnant Alfred Wehmeyer of Stab III./ZG 26 a Blenheim at 16:22 south of Halfar at 500 meters (10) Leutnant Herbert Schramm of 8./JG 53 a Blenheim at 18:23 (39) These appear to be the only twin-engined bombers claimed by Luftwaffe pilots on those two days. I hope this helps. Horrido! Leo |
