Lt/Col Selden Raymond Edner

This airman was killed by Greek Communists on 2-12-49 at Karpenesion after his recce a/c was shot down. He was injured in the crash and was hung by local terrorists.
He was the US Air Attache.

Leendert will become famous soon enough
Re: Lt/Col Selden Raymond Edner

Roy,

The aircraft was a (Greek?) AT-6.

Edner was the observer and AT-6 had a Greek pilot. Plane was shot down on 21 Jan 1949.

Regards,

Leendert

Re: Lt/Col Selden Raymond Edner

Hello Leendert,
Thanks for that, I think it was a Greek Air Force AT-6 and Selden Edner was an observer. Such a sad end to a brave and talented pilot with 5 claims for destroyed a/c, 1-shared probable and 2 damage which earned him a DFC while with 121 sqn before transfering to the USAAf in September,1942.
As his injuries were revealed after his death, so why no details of his burial place.
Roy

Re: Lt/Col Selden Raymond Edner

I'd say he is listed on this page here in a California funerla home list, the date march 22 1949 might refer to his date of burial.

www.scchgs.org/wfh/wfhe.html

newspaper stories published at the time say that his wife lived in California.

Hello Dennis,
Thanks for the leads, I am sure some one can narrow down where in San Jose he was buried, possibly along side his 4 month old daughter.
