249 Squadron
249 Were based at Grottaglie and Brindisi in Italy as part of 286 Wing - 242 Group from November 1943 until Jul 1944.
A Me 109 was claimed on 17 November by Flt Sgt Ken Dale (EN256 GN-B) 1 December 1943 a JU52 of II/TG4 was claimed by Fly Off Brooks (JK366 GN-H) this was also claimed by 1/Lt Robert H Wagner of the 92nd FS. 2 December 1943 Sqn Ldr Colvin (JK817 GN-Z) claimed a Me109G of I/NAG12 flown by Oblt Hans Marquardt who was lsisted as missing. 4 December 1943 a JU52 of II/TG4 was claimed by Flt Lt Beatson (JK625 GN-K) and Sgt Jacobsen (ES306 GN-T) 4 December 1943 Wg Cdr Woods claimed a JU87 of 13/StG151
