Lucky 109 pilot nearly crashes taking off from a rain-soaked runway. Video link

Brief clip, but incredibly lucky/skilful pilot as he leads a Scramble take-off from a rain-soaked runway.

Cheers, MP

Most of those a/c look like Fw190D-9s to me.

The Bf109s wear winter camo. So it looks like water on frozen ground - spring thaw on the Eastern front.
Otherwise such take-offs would not have been possible...

Don't think so....there is a Wochenschau on 1.1.45 (Nr.748 of 11.1.45) and this comes from another Wochenschau...

hm, somewhere had it on tape, sounds: " Am Neujahrstag starten unsere Jäger zu einem grossen Schlag gegen die Angloamerikanische Luftwaffe........."

follows some strafing runs (B-25, C-47, etc. and some aerial combat footage)

not the same as the take off mentioned in this post

Looks to me that a couple of those D-9s had prop strikes......the tails were way too high.
