Fw 190 D wooden flaps
Hi Pilot
According to Jerry Crandall, there are at least two known Doras that were fitted with the wooden landing flaps, these being Fw 190 D-9 "Red 13" (W.Nr. 213 240) and Fw 190 D-13 "Yellow 10" (W.Nr. 830 017). There are a number of quite nice photographs of the landing flaps of the latter aircraft at the links below. http://www.cebudanderson.com/yellow10.htm http://detailsite3.tripod.com/d13/d13.htm http://www.flickr.com/photos/dschult...th/4848543072/ I have read that a number of Doras of JG 6 were also fitted with the wooden flaps so if you can come across any photographs of these aircraft there is a good possibility they had them as well. For what I have read they were quite unpopular as they quickly deteriorated in the winter weather. I hope this helps. Horrido! Leo |
