All I can say is that there wasn't any fighter opposition, no bombers were lost. 216 Halifax's 14 mosquito's and 13 Lancasters took part. 9 Squadrons of Spitfires were in the escort on the way out and 7 squadrons on the return.

You have to wonder why we carried on with night bombing.
