Re: Luftwaffe cover for Sevastopol evacuation, May 1944
here is what I have for II./ZG 76 in the Luftwaffe losses summaries:
No loss between 1 and 9 May reported 10 May 1944: one damaged without enemy action on operational flight 11 May 1944: one damaged by enemy aircraft on operational flight one damaged without enemy action on operational flight 13 May 1944: one damaged without enemy action on operational flight 14 May 1944: one aircraft missing one damaged without enemy action on non operational flight Next loss on 21 May So one aircraft of II./ZG 76 was hit in an air battle on 11 May 1944. On this date no Allied aircraft flew over Austria, where II./ZG 76 was supposed to be according to my sources. On 14 May 1944 15th AF was busy over Italy, so the II./ZG 76 loss might be there, but I again think it unlikely. Hope it helps Laurent |
