Re: Crashed He111 9./KG53
Hi Steve,
Thanks for your reply. It is indeed the "Dreimaster" that was on eBay recently. I don't know if the He111H's of Kampfgruppe 100 were divided over different KG's or all ended up in KG100 "Wiking". I noticed that this He111 doesn't have a Gruppen-Abzeichen. I don't know if there was a certain time frame in 1940 were III./KG53 didn't have the Abzeichen yet, or that this has to do with being a former K.Gr.100 He111? Regards, Thomas |

Re: Crashed He111 9./KG53
Hi Thomas, it is quite possible that the Heinkels of Kampfgruppe 100 were used to supplement losses of other KG units during 1940.
A quick look at my known W.Nr lists for both units have failed to show any pattern or matches, though thats not to be treated as gospel! I also noticed a distinct lack of Gruppen-Abzeichen on the particular side shown on the photograph, and may support the theory that this particular a/c may have only been recently delivered from another unit, although this is conjecture, and without more information or evidence we may never know! Best regs, Steve. |
