Hauptmann Alfred Hammer

Hello

Leutnant Alfred Hammer (26 victories), Staffelkapitän of 6./JG 53, was wounded in aerial combat on 24 February 1944 and 13 June 1944. Would anyone have any loss list information regarding these occasions? Many thanks.

Horrido!

Leo

Hello remi,

where the information came from? In his flightbook and his Leistungsbuch isn't mention any flight, accident or dogfight between 24.02.1944 - 22.07.1944.

Best regards
Rasmussen

Regarding his Leistungsbuches it was an fight with 70 - 80 B-17 (and "Lightnings"). He was wounded on his left leg during and did an belly landing on airfield Hörsching near Linz.

Re: Hauptmann Alfred Hammer

At 13h00

Unfort. no source for the 12.June, but considering his log-book, you are pretty right , no flights recorded from 24.Febr. till 22.July 44, seems we hv to consider the 12.June as a "non-event"

At least Hammer seems to hv very clean victories, nd a gallant man, he gives the Wn of part of his Mounts

Re: Hauptmann Alfred Hammer

Hallo Rasmussen and Remi,

It seems you have some interesting documentation regarding Alfred Hammer and his Staffel!

I personnaly have investigated for some years about some airfights concerning the II/JG53 in late 1944, and especially the ones on november 25th, december 12th and december 16th 1944.

I would be VERY interested and thanksfull for any possible elements given in documents as logbooks or other unpublished documents concerning this unit on that time.

Particulary concerned in my research are Alexander Preinfalk (6/JG53) and Alfred Ostermeyer (7/JG53) , Rudolf Hartter (6/JG53) and Karl Schwarz (5/JG53), but in general the complete 5th, 6th and 7th Staffeln on these 3 days.

I would be very interested to share about them!

Cheers,

Mathias

Hauptmann Alfred Hammer

Hello guys

Very interesting turn of events in which it now appears that he was not involved in any incident on 13 June 1944 as per www.luftwaffe.cz/hammer.html. Many thanks to Matti for the information regarding the 24 February 1944 incident. I noticed that the Kracker archive states that he was also involved in an incident with Bf 109 F-4 (W.Nr. 7412) while serving with 4./JG 53 sometime in March 1942. Is there any additional information about this incident if indeed it occurred such as date, cause and location? Many thanks to all who have responded.

Horrido!

Leo

The incident itself isn't mentioned in his flightbook. On 28 March (the day of the incident) he arrived after "Freie Jagd über Malta" in Comiso on 2.26 pm. During this sortie he had contact with 4 Hurricanes and AA fire. Then he didn't used the W.Nr.7412 to 31 March ... it was an "Werkstattflug" after an repair. The cause: Rollschaden.

Best regards
