Re: Uffz. Helmut Johanning
Hi
I do not have much on this guy, only that he was ace Alfred Miksch's wingman, and that he did not survive the war.....he's buried at the Brockeswalde cemetary. Regards Johannes |

Re: Uffz. Helmut Johanning
Vinny,
a quick look in Eric Mombeek's book REICHVERTEIDIGUNG I and you find the following on the 1.12.43 crash. He was with 8.Staffel and was wounded in the emergency landing after ennemy contact. He landed near Mol (B) The a/c was 75% loss : Bf109G-6 (410098) Black 7. The Austrian ace (48 kills) Alfred Miksch is killed on that day in the South of The Netherlands flying black 13 regards Sealander |

Re: Uffz. Helmut Johanning
Thank you for the information, guys! He must have survived the crash on 1 December 1943. I could not find out if he survived the war, but it seems that he is one of the many 8./JG 1 pilots that did not survive the war.
I also heard that he flew in black 4 during the summer months of 1943... Is there any source that mentions more about this fact? |
