Re: Info needed about three men

Thanks, Matti!

Faber must have succeeded Zuzic as Staffelkapitän, who was killed on 19 August 1943.
Georg Ries was killed on the same day as Faber, but what else is known about this man?
And Husser was a colleague, but did he fly together with these two previously mentioned pilots?

Re: Info needed about three men

I have the following. Maybe Riehs is an old way to write Rieß?
1943-11-03, 8./JG 1, Bf 109G-6, 160349, 3 schw, Nördlich Esens, 14 km nordwestlich Wittmund, Luftkampf mit Viermot und P-47. Bruch 100 %.
Flugzeugführer Uffz Riehs, Georg, tot

Unfortunately no info on Husser.

Re: Info needed about three men

Wow, thanks for the information, Doug and Matti!

I don't know who the Staffelkapitän was following Zuzic's death on 19 August 1943, but Faber apparently became Staka on 8 October 1943. Maybe 8./JG 1 did not have a Staffelkapitän in the meantime? Or Heinrich Overhagen was the Staka in that period, though he (also) replaced Faber after 3 November 1943...
Ries flew black 3, most likely this aircraft (a Regensburg Me-109, Werk Nr. 160349)?:

Attachment 6050

And several pictures of Husser are to be found on the web, though it's hard to tell when he flew in the units Tom Kracker mentioned. He did flew in III./JG 1, but when exactly remains hard to say.

But you really helped me out, thanks again!
