Engine from Bf 109 G-14 Maj. Erich Leie

Few days ago a group of my colleagues - researchers, found an engine from Bf 109 G-14 in Drogomysl, Poland. This aircraft was flown by Maj. Erich Leie and lost on 7th March 1945.

I have never seen a warning label like that on a DB605 before...

very nice find! I thought though that Leie G-14 was shot down way southwest of where the engine was found in Czechoslovakia?

We just proved that Leie Bf G-14 was shot down in Poland, several kilometers from the Czech border. The truth is only that he was buried in the Czech Republic, exactly at the Protestant cemetery in Hlučín, near the airfield in Beneschau (Dolni Benesov) , which launched on March 7 his last flight.

New pictures of the engine (already cleaned)

Guys

You should be addressing your queries to 308 MiGol as he is one of those lucky guys, who pulled out an engine.
I was just a messenger, being unaware that he is also a member of this Forum.
Regards
