Re: P-47 tank busting during the battle of the bulge
I am currently re-reading John Toland's "Battle" about the bugle. Haven't read it in about 40 years. He reports that Peiper's group lost 10 tanks and half-tracks to the IX Tactical Air Command Fighter-Bombers on the evening of the 17th near Trois Points. I researched a little but could not identify which type of aircraft were involved.

RUST, Kenn C. The 9th Air Force in World War II: from the Desert to Central Germany. Fallbrook, CA: Aero Publishers, Inc., 1967.
Chapter 7 - The Ardennes (pp.131-44). Has numerous accounts of tank-busting by P-47 Thunderbolts during the so-called Battle of the Bulge with the fighter group and usually the fighter squadron identified along with the date, place and the number of tanks destroyed. |

Re: P-47 tank busting during the battle of the bulge
Larry, that sounds like exactly what I need! Unfortunately I can only find a used copy on Amazon.com but they don't ship to the UK
![]() I appreciate your heads up though, I'll keep my eyes open for a copy elsewhere. |
