Hello All,

Re: Ju87 WNr.?

Rémi, Peter, Norbert,

Thank you for the information you shared. This set of plates was taken by a GI at the Regensburg airfield in 1945. I find it interesting to think that the Ju87 may have been outfitted to tow gliders. And, certainly, the Jumo 210 was used on the Ju87A, not the Ju87D. Here is a photo showing the main ID plate and maker's badge fitted to a Jumo 210:

Best regards,
Steve

Re: Ju87 WNr.?

Hi Steve,
it was not uncommon for Stuka units to transfer from Germany to the front with DFS 230 in tow for their support personnel. This way they arrived at the same time and there was no delay which a transfer by rail for the support people may have caused.

From Yugoslavia and Italy:

Ultra VL 9744 reported a bombing mission by 9 Ju 87 of II./LLG 1 on 29 March 1944.

Ulra KV 3940 reported aircraft movements for 14 May 1944, including: …16.53 hours: one Ju 87 with markings of LLG 1 down with glider at Aviano from Agram [Zagreb].
