Identity of FW200 11January 1941

Good evening all, I am searching for the details of the FW200 Condor which force landed at the Ile de Re on the French Atlantic Coast 11 January 1941 ie w.nr, code and crew.

Foreman quotes w.nr 0037
Salgado quotes w.nr 0038
Scutts quotes w.nr 0028
Any help much appreciated

Tony

Looks like both 0028 and 0037 received damage on 11.1.1941

0028 was the one which landed at Ile de Ro, prob 100% loss
0037 received 25% damage at Mérignac

Nothing on the crew(s), I am afraid

Cheers
Stig

0037 crops up being damaged a number of times afterwards whilst 0038 (SG+KN) was shot down by 479th FG 5 Jul 44

Re: Identity of FW200 11January 1941

@ Chris,

i have a confusing double loss entry in my DB for W.-Nr. 0038:

1. 2./KG 40, 5th July 1944, shot down by P-38 at Cognac, crew perished
2. without named unit, 23rd April 1945, Lt. Schuster and 5 crew-members

I believe this is based on the Nowarra book about the FW 200, which i can't dig out of my removal boxes at this time for to check.

Greets
Norbert

Hi Norbert, the Scutts book shows Fw 200 C-4/U2 0138 F8+IT (CE+IC) shot down by Flak Wilhelmshorst on 26-4-1945, would his be the Schuster crew ?

I should add that the Scutts loss list is mine as Jerry had based his list on Nowarra's book & had not taken into account research over the subsequent decades

Hello Brian,

thanks for Your kind answer and info, but i fear this doesn't fit at least (i might be wrong nonetheless).
I'm having this bird as "government aircraft", later transferred to 9./KG 40 without any further details.
And: I always appreciate Your kind help and efforts.

Best Greetings from a rainy, shivering Germany
Norbert

Tony the GQM list just shows 11.1.- 'F' - I KG/40- Il de Re- Notlandung infolge Flakbeschuss - Fw 200 C-3 - 0028 - 100%. No crew details so no one injured and no code shown,

Regards
