Re: Okkajärvi + Kutajärvi
"Okkajärvi" should probably be Olkkajärvi, 15 km NW Rovaniemi. (Järvi = Lake). "Kutajärvi" may also be misspelled - is some letter missing?

Re: Okkajärvi + Kutajärvi
Hello Rémi
all I can say that Germans loaned Ar 196 GA+DO to the Finnish Detachment Malinen (which transport long-range recce patrols deep behind Soviet rear in He 115s and He 59s) from 13 Sept to 22 Oct. 43. The Det operated from Olkkajärvi and used the Arado in liaison and courier flights. HTH Juha ADDITION: According to another source, Heinonen's Thulinista Hornetiin, GA+DO was loaned 13 Sept - 29 Oct 43, and flew 18 sorties, incl 3 LR recce patrol transport sorties Last edited by Juha; 6th February 2012 at 10:25. |

Think that you are right with the names,
AR196A 125 8 43 29 Flügen 53 Verwundete vom 9 z, 13,Aug, AR196A 122 8 43 16 Flügen 30 Verwundete geborgen vom 9 z, 13,Aug, Rovaniemi quite far from the front no ?? To the GA+DO many docs says that the german refused to allocate that plane.... |

Re: Okkajärvi + Kutajärvi
At least the following Ar 196s were flown in summer 1943 in Olkkajärvi:
1943-07-14 NH+AM Olkkajärvi – Pl.Qu. 427 1943-07-21 GA+DV Olkkajärvi – 30 km nördlich Fl.Pl. Pontsalenjoki 1943-08-06 GA+DY Olkkajärvi – Pl.Qu. 427 1943-08-09 GA+DY Olkkajärvi – Pl.Qu. 426 1943-08-20 LA+BN Olkkajärvi – Kirkenes 1943-09-01 GA+FD Olkkajärvi 1943-09-01 BB+YB Olkkajärvi 1943-09-03 GA+DV Alakurtti – Pl.Qu. 426 1943-09-19 GA+DV Kemi – Alakurtti 1943-09-20 BB+YB Olkkajärvi 1943-09-23 BB+YB Olkkajärvi – Kirkkoniemi 1943-09-25 GA+DV Olkkajärvi 1943-09-28 KK+BX Kirkkoniemi – Olkkajärvi 1943-09-28 GA+DV Olkkajärvi There might be others, but these are the only known SKZs. Josef Berendes was the main pilot in those rescue missions, which were flown from Kananainen (near Kiestinki) to “See 121” (This might be that "Kutajärvi"). GA+DV (WNr. 122) and BB+YB (possible WNr. 125) were mainly situated in Olkkajärvi ja Kiestinki area. GA+DY was flown to Germany 1943-10-09. Besides rescue flights, Berendes flew with BB+YB in 1943-09-03 two agents from Salmijärvi to Schownajawr-See, 70 km behind the front. Matti |

Re: Okkajärvi + Kutajärvi
