Luftwaffe activity 24th Dec 1944
Hello all,
I am trying to learn and understand mission flown by 8th AF on Dec24th 1944. From VIII FC mission report I have read they claimed total of 75 Dest & 10 Damaged. Was wondering I anyone could tell me which and how luftwaffe units participated in reaction on the Attacks made by 8th AF (9th AF & RAF) during that day. Regards Joost de Raaf

The Werner Girbig book Six Months to Oblivion (Start Im Morgen Grauen) lists the following units for 24th. Dec :-
I, II & III/JG1 II/JG2 I,III &IV/JG3 I, II & III/JG4 I, II & III/JG6 I & III/JG11 I & II/JG26 I, II, III & IV/JG27 IV/JG53 IV/JG54 I, & III/JG77 II,III & IV/JG300 I, & II SG4 Losses quoted are 85 pilots killed or missing and 21 wounded Regards Brian Bines
