Re: Ju 88 S-1 Werknummer range

Yes, saw this. Hard to say subtype based on camou alone, possibly ex-KG 66, but some from this edwest listsings had Ju 88 G-6 620676 (Kitzingen), but possibly one (Ju 88 G-1 4R+GH? at Dijon.) This maybe abandoned (damaged and dismantled, or repair not completed and dumped) possibly in France shomewhere? It does not give location and I find no match from code "+N_? Many S-1 have unrecorced fates.

Re: Ju 88 S-1 Werknummer range

The source of this photo is given as a member of 511 FS so some locations in France are possible. Similar photograph was published in Kagero volume on Ju 88, possibly the same fuselage in different position coded +X_

Unfortunately I have no access to it for the time being.
Anybody?

Re: Ju 88 S-1 Werknummer range

Based on the monthly reports from Junkers Flugzeug und Motorenwerke from January 1943 to March 1944, the conversion programme for the Ju 88S-1 was listed as follows:
01.04.1943 - 30.06.1943: Delivered 1 Ju 88V-55 prototype for the Ju 88S-1. Delivered 24 Ju 88S-1 conversions from series production Ju 88A-4 by JFM Merseburg.

01.07.1943 - 30.09.1943: Delivered 11 Ju 88S-1.

01.10.1943 - 31.12.1943: Delivered 22 Ju 88S-1.

01.01.1944 - 31.03.1944: Delivered 13 Ju 88S-1. The conversion of 70
Ju 88S-1 was then completed.

Hope this may be of interest.

Re: Ju 88 S-1 Werknummer range

Thanks Seaplanes. I just wonder what was Ju 188 needed for (especially bearing in mind war situation)? Both S-1 and S-3 versions were relatively easy way to upgrade existing A airframes.
