Seeking Codes for Werner Baumbach's 5./KG30 Ju88A during WC/FC & BoB

Hello,

Does anyone have any information, photos, FB or other source that would allow the EoE Project to do a color profile of Lt - Oblt Werner Baumbachs Ju88A while either during the WC/FC of May-June, 1940? He was appointed StaKap of 5./KG30 on 01.06.40, so his plane after that date might have been 4D+AN. Does anyone have any photos of that a/c during the late spring of 1940, or any plane he flew prior to his appointment as StaKap while with 5 Staffel?

There is a photo showing him with his 5 Staffel a/c but no code is visible, only the II./KG30 unit insignia on the nose. He wears a life vest in this one, so this may be during the Dunkirk operations period.

Thanx for any help on this one.

Regards,

Gents,

no idea about the crew pic of Baumbach...
...but that photograph seems to fit Larry's request as suggesting the Ju 88 (type A-1 or early A-5) in the background - just a guess of mine - as been coded with 4D+FN.

Best Regards
Norbert

I think this was Baumbach's crew because in 'Der Adler' (May 1941) there is an article titled ANGRIFF!, with a series of cockpit photos of Baumbach attacking a ship in his Ju88. It shows a member of his crew beside him in the cockpit and it is clearly the gentleman on the far right of the photo above.

@ Clint,

if You are refering to that picture (see below) it may not clarify much because it was published about hundred times or more. This is a well known german propaganda photograph and spread around the world, i believe.

Keep on going and all the best
Norbert

P.S.: Nonetheless the canopy in that picture appears as has been taken in a Ju 88 A-1 or A-5.

Yes that's one of them. I believe that shot comes from this series of photos which are the same ones that appear in the 'Der Adler' article.
