Haut de Buc (Anyone live nearby?)

Hi Guys, I am searching for a French forum member who may live near the Haut de Buc, Versailles. I have a number of photographs of this grand house whilst under the occupation of 1./(F)123. I am hoping that someone local could take some "Then & Now" photographs of images that I can supply of the house & gardens taken during 1940-42. Any help would be really appreciated as I would like to use them in my book that I am currently compiling about 1./(F)123 their operations over England/losses etc.

Attached are a couple of samples of the house whilst in use with 1./(F)123.

Kind regards

Melvin

Hello Melvin,

Maybe this can help.
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fichier...C3%A2teau3.jpg
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_du_Haut-Buc

Just type "Château du Haut-Buc" which is the name. It's full of entries (in Google.fr).
And not that far from London, actually ... if no ferry, eurostar, bus, Metro, RER and Air France strikes!

And there is a French-German school and college, too, down there!

Cheers, Franck.

Hello Melvin,

You're welcome Melvin. But is it enough for you?

You know, that area is full of scholars, historians and amateurs who will be very happy to help you and to receive help from you too. It's not just a "small village".
If you need more, I think you have better to enter in direct contact with municipality services.
The following forum is not bad too to get what you want, but it's in french. Many of french TOCH members - and not the least - are in.
They are founded in local history concerning aviation: http://www.aerostories.org/~aeroforums/forumhist/

If I can do more just ask me.

Cheers, Franck.

Thanks franck,

I would go myself but unfortunately I was made redundant a couple of years ago and have not managed to get another job, so my finances are very tight indeed. I am hoping that our English speaking French friends on this excellent forum will be willing to help me.

Best wishes,

Melvin

Oh, I apologise; I've been in the same situation since May 2010. Fortunately I got something 4 months ago, abroad, and I'm 7 years older than you; so it's possible. Now situation is better. I understand yours.
Take care,

Franck.

Re: Haut de Buc (Anyone live nearby?)

Hello, Melvin,

I live in Issy-les-Moulineaux, about 10 km from Buc, so I may help.

I just wonder if the castle and his park will be open to the public. If they have been transformed into a school, it will usually be closed to visitors, especially during the summer holidays.

Re: Haut de Buc (Anyone live nearby?)

Melvin,

can you forward me your PM so that I send these pictures to you when I receive them ?

Another question: which period are you targeting exactly for theses pictures: 1949-1942 ? Now ? both ?

Thanks

Gilles
