Re: Leck He 162s
Hi David!
I know the pic, because Jim sent the original one here to Vienna to scan it. The quality is really bad and there is a black spot exactly at the with an X marked position of the number: 2200X2. The rest of the W.Nr. is clear egible. From the roundings the number could be 220002, 220022 or 220090. Cheers, Simon |

Re: Leck He 162s
A simple question that turned into an really interesting thread. What about 220100? Also a very high number. Now for a harder question, does anyone have a list of the He 162s captured at Leck? I seed to remember seeing one somewhere several years ago. Thanks, Walt

Re: Leck He 162s
Gents,
Simon and I have been chatting about this topic off-board and in order to keep the aircraft straight in my mind, I created these little tables (attached). The information comes form the references noted below, as well as some interpretation on my part of the various photos extant, similarities to camouflage and markings, etc. Take a look through it and feel free to point out errors, suggest corrections, etc. Perhaps someone can add the latest information on the French examples. Cheers, David (putting his helmet on) |

Re: Leck He 162s
Hi Olivier,
thank you very much for the update! That's exact what I'm locking for. Some questions I have: April 1st 1945 W.Nr. 310018 should be flown by Uffz. Dobrat from Bernburg to Unterschlauenbach. Next day Uffz. Dobrat came back to Bernburg and told that he couldn`t land there, because the airport was captured by the US troops. He sat down the plane somewhere east to Nuernberg. (source Eric Mombeek, Reichsverteidigung Die Geschichte des Jagdgeschwaders 1 "Oesau") Did 310018 ever arrive the JG 1?? Do you know pics of 120235 with original german markings. I only know the one showing the left side of the plane with british markings. In your listing White 21 (black nosed) has the W.Nr 120221. Compare the camouflage with White 3(120028 ), White 1(120013??could you tell me your source for that?) and 120029 (12th He 162 built at Heinkel's Marienehe/Rostock facility) The camouflage system of all these planes are the same. Are you sure about the hight Werknumber of White 21? Cheers, Simon |

Re: Leck He 162s
Hi Simon
i must edit the .doc file with some question marks when the W.Nr. are not 100% sure. * Did 310018 ever arrive the JG 1?? >> Rgr there is conflicting information there * Do you know pics of 120235 with original german markings. >> No, but you can guess the overpainted "3" on the one showing the left side of the plane with british markings. * In your listing White 21 (black nosed) has the W.Nr 120221. Are you sure about the hight Werknumber of White 21? >> W.Nr. 120221 info come from J.C.Mermet and P.Couderchon, i think they have some photo to say that, same as for white 27 since they can say her nose is not colored. We will need to wait for their probable book about He 162 to know more... >> Dont mix, there is two "white 21" and both black nosed. The first is though to be 120017 and is visible at Ludwiglust, the other is 120221 from Leck in the middle of the right column (see attached jpg) |
