Hans,
The Major may be identified as Harry B. Anderson (1892-1919, Dover, New Jersey), ex-88th Aero Squadron and and C.O., 4th Corps Observation Group. "Killed in this aircraft on 21 February 1919 while with the Army of Occupation at Coblenz. Engine failed on takeoff and before he could regain the field, hit a line of trees. He did not appear to be killed in the crash, but was trapped in the broken fuselage and died in the ensuing fire".
