Re: Aviatik Berg D.I question

Well Rick, it depends on what you mean....

In Austria there were plenty of Aviatik D.I remaining on the fields and hangars. An Italian report in 1920 gave plenty of fighters on various fields they visited. If they were used? I don't know. The aviation history of Austria from 1919-mid 1923 is very badly covered and I can't really say how effective the Allied Control Commission really was. Sweden for example had no problem "smuggling" quite a large number of Phönix D.II flighters by rail to our Army at the time.

My feeling is that other "newborne" states also may have used the type, but I cannot straight away find any evidence for that.

Cheers
Stig
