Hallo,

If you look at the control surfaces of this airplane, you will notice there is a gust lock still in place. So, it was photographed while on the ground in its own airport. No last flight, no last pilot, just captured by the GIs..

Hi

Fairly sure that it is a Junkers Ju 88 G-6. You have miss-typed the WNr. in your post. It should be 621049. I have records of Ju88G-6 either side of this WNr, but cannot find this one at present.

I corrected the #

Ty Andrea,
Very possible is was a captured aircraft.
His father did serve in a US armor division stationed near Berlin just before the Russians mounted their final assult on Berlin, but the photo could have been taken anytime.
