Re: 35th RAF Squadron ?
Firstly, Should read; No.35 Squadron RAF, not 35th RAF Sqn.
Please pass on the following information: 18 May 1945 No.35 Sqn RAF Lancaster III PB684:TL-B Training. Overshot the runway at Graveley and crash-landed 1333, losing its undercarriage in the process. No injuries reported. 1394251 F/Sgt (Pilot) William Norman MERCER RAFVR (later 197711. F/O). BCL6/175 There is no suggestion here that the aircraft depicted in the photograph is PB684 - OK. Col. |
