njg4 pilot Norbert Pietrek

Hi there Guys
I've got another question for the forum. I'm doing some family research, and I'm hoping someone here will know about a German pilot called Norbert Pietrek. He was a night fighter pilot in NJG4 in 1943. I'm hoping to find out what happened to him, did he survive the war?
Thanks to anyone who can find any info about him.
Cheers
Neil

Re: njg4 pilot Norbert Pietrek

All that I have in my notes about this fellow is:

PIETREK, Norbert. 16/17.04.43 Lt., 2./NJG 4. 01.10.43 Oblt., WIA - in a crash at Bieul, 1.5 km /NW of Dinant during a transit flight. Credited with 3 victories.

Furthermore, the Kracker Archive states that he had been awarded the EK I and II, the Wound badge and the night fighters mission clasp.

His claims included: a Stirling at Map Quadrant 20323 (Pilsen/Mannheim area) on 17 April, 1943. Two victories on 10 August, 1943; a Halifax 5 km NW of Hübert and a Lancaster at Morbihan.

That's about all I can find.

DGS

Re: njg4 pilot Norbert Pietrek

Thanks DGS
That’s still more info than I’ve managed to find, so cheers for that. Interesting you mention the Marbehan crash, it was through Fred Gardiner’s story that I came across the name Pietrek. My wife’s great uncle was a gunner on Lancaster W4236 and he did not survive the crash.
Many thanks for your help
Neil

Re: njg4 pilot Norbert Pietrek

Hi from Oberammergau,

Correct crashlocation of his Bf 110 (during a transfer flight) is Bioul.

Re: njg4 pilot Norbert Pietrek

Thanks everyone who answered.
The jpg is excellent so I’ve downloaded that to my files, cheers Dan.
Also thanks to Doug and ClinA-78 for pointing me in the direction of Bioul. Turns out Pitrek was contacted by the villagers in 1988 and later visited the crash site. That answers my question about him surviving the war!
Cheers everyone
Neil

Re: njg4 pilot Norbert Pietrek

The credit would be given to Jean-Louis Roba and Roland Charlier who firstly invited and met Norbert Pietrek when he came back to Bioul to see his crashplace many years ago.
