The Imperial War Museum has the III./SG 4 diary on microfilm.

Re: Ofhr Zotlöterer, Heinz III/SG4

Hello Nick!

Sorry about possible disruption, hopsi12.

I have known long time about the III/SG4 KTB from a old article by Karl Kössler (air war over Southern Estonia in Summer 1944). Couple of questions if you don't mind:

- what is the file IWM code?
- is it possible to purchase copies for part of it? I am mostly interested about the time period 1.7.-22.9.1944 when the unit participated in the battles over Estonia
- does the KTB include some kind of "lessons learned" -report about ground attack operations as an attachment? Or is that a separate document?

Cheers,
Kari

The KTB is held on the Air Historical Branch (AHB) 6 microfilms. The ones I have seen are reel 16 (01.11.43–03.07.44), reel 9 (appendices to KTB Nr. 3), reel 8 (KTB Nr. 5, Western Front, 01.11.44–19.01.45) and reel 7 (Erfolgsberichte, Ost, July – October 1944).

You'll need to contact the IWM about the availability of copies etc.

Re: Ofhr Zotlöterer, Heinz III/SG4

Thanks for information, I will have to get in touch with the Imperial War Museum, sorry for asking again, if I would pay for this service anyway, would they do me a copy ??
Regarding this article of Oberfähnrich Zotlöterer, it was about the mission on 24.12.1944 and I`m pretty sure, there was also a foto of his downed FW190...

Perhaps you are remembering an article in Luftwaffe im Focus, No.8 (2005), pp 40-43, which included two photos of his WNr.586444 "schwarze 10" of 8./SG 4, a map, and a color profile of the starboard side by Ronny Bar.

The ones I saw at BA/MA Freiburg:

RL10/359 KTB Nr. 5 III./SG 4 Westfront 1.11.44-19.1.45 (19 pages)
RL10/464 Anlagen zum KTB III./SG 4

Cheers,

J.
