Re: Trying to id WC or BoB Ground Collision between Ju88A & Bf110C of 5./ZG76
Thanx Matti,
I have no doubt that this is the incident depicted in the photo. We carry the Ju88 part of the incident in the revised EoE Luft Loss DB as: "26 August 1940: 4.(F)/121 Junkers Ju88A-1. Overshot runway on landing at Caen-Carpiquet and crashed into dispersed Bf110 of unidentified unit. No crew casualties. Aircraft 20% damaged but repairable." We do not carry the Bf110 in our loss DB, but I'm sure that Peter Cornwell will fix that shortly. So the a/c codes here would be 7A+_M for the Ju88A, and M8+EN for the Bf110C. Other photos probably exist somewhere of this incident, and might provide the missing a/c code letter for the Ju88. If anyone else has photos of this incident, I'd appreciate hearing about it. Regards, Larry Hickey EoE Project Coordinator |
