Re: eBay: one Bf 109 E. Stab III./JG 54
Franck,
This is scheduled as one of our Color Profile a/c for the EoE project. This is the a/c of Hptm Arnold Lignitz, Gr Kdr of III./JG54, displaying 19 victory tabs in two rows on the rudder. We have several excellent photos of the scoreboard of this a/c taken during early Nov., 1940, shortly after Lignitz won the RK and took over III./JG54. He was originally with 9./JG51. We think that this is the fatal crash near Waterloo, Belgium, by Uffz. Karl Albrecht of 9./JG 54, on 14.02.41, with aircraft WNr924 a 100% loss. Albrecht was obviously flying the Gr Kdr's a/c when he crashed. Regards, Larry Hickey EoE Project Coordinator |

Re: eBay: one Bf 109 E. Stab III./JG 54
Thanks Larry for your help!
Note that at the time Herbert Bauch did crash 3752 Lignitz was already GrKdr so I had the choice in fact but nothing about that guy ... Coincidence: I choose a guy who crashed a plane which wasn't his usual one, too. Thanks again. I was more or less expecting a reaction coming from you! Regards, franck. |
