eBay: Egon Mayer "Weisse 1" ... Again!
Hi Gents,
Same we have seen in a photo album auction, two ot three month ago, but with higher definition! Note that first picture Under wasn't included in the scans at that time. So: F-2. JG2.III.7. 'Weisse 1'. WNr.6720. Oblt. Egon Mayer. Quend-Plage, 20 Septembre 1941... as reminder. http://www.ebay.de/itm/1-Orig-Foto-F...item20d42c452d http://www.ebay.de/itm/2-Orig-Foto-F...item20d42c496f http://www.ebay.de/itm/3-Orig-Foto-F...item20d42c4e3c note the gun camera apertures and good to notice, too, that (1st picture) the "black" rectangle Under wing indicating that gun camera has been removed since it's its access hatch. Ahrg! Almost forgot !!!! With higher definition we can recognise Egon himself sat on his plane (3rd photo).... ![]() Regards, Franck. |

Re: eBay: Egon Mayer "Weisse 1" ... Again!
Hi Guys,
I'm back ... One friend told me that the villas in background of first photo have been destroyed by German (1942). So look - and check - for Post cards before that date. Best regards, Franck. |

Yes, I think you are right.
The known photos of Mayers Bf 109 F "weisse 1" are the "new" plane, and Prien write that it looks very unused... http://www.me109.info/display.php?a=e&fid=3148

Re: eBay: Egon Mayer "Weisse 1" ... Again!
Dear David,
We can find these on net: http://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Bf-109F/B...e-1941-01.html http://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Bf-109F/B...e-1941-01.html http://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Bf-109F/B...e-1941-02.html http://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Bf-109F/B...e-1941-03.html So normaly (roughly) we have two white 1. Main visible difference being the III.Gr. Balken position with Black cross... after we can discuss about mottle and Black "flamme" protection at wing root (same on Weisses <II) 6720 is the one with closest positioned gruppe balken in relation with black cross; and with the scoreboard. On original photoalbum we got the two last pictures above (post #1), another one with scoreboard and a navyman sat on tail with a dog and a last one picturing the dismounted plane being trailed; scoreboard visible. That last one has been offered in auction quite recently, alone, in highest definition too. (Of course I got it, I don't know where it is right now ... Inside some kind of "shoe box".) If I remember well (if I understood too) Mr. Erik Mombeeck got some pics concerning that accident (Or he thinks he got ... Have to check his mail ![]() Last: Concerning Quend-Plage and/or St Quentin. Definitively some accidents in JG 2 lost list have been situated in St. Quentin by German reporter/secretary but it's wrong ... and impossible so far. True place is Quend-plage as rightly noted in the photo album. And album owner wrote: "RK Meyer" ... what else? Regards, Franck. Tschüss. |
