11 May, 1944 No.253 Sqn. Spitfire Vc EF740 Caught fire attacking train and dived into ground near Trebinje,Yugoslavia. 118043 S/L. Harry HOPKINSON RAFVR - Trapped for two hours, freed himself and returned to Sqaudron. See: Air-Britain RAF Aircraft EA100 to EZ999. p.42. Chris, it is not unusual for A-B to report aircraft lost a day later than they actually were, so the date that you quote may well be the correct one. Another report states: Hit by AA on offensive sweep, Trebinje-Polijce; seen trailing black smoke, crashed and turned over. Pilot not seen to bale out.
