Re: Nijmegen Bridge Attack
Two aircraft of I./76 were reported missing after a mission to Nijmegen on 24 September. This formation (II./JG 27, I./JG 76 and III./JG 4) took off at 0615 GMT. Plan: "clearing the Nijmegen area of enemy fighters for Gefechtsverband Spaethe (20 aircraft of III./JG 11 and IV./JG 54). Spaethe's unit had its take-off delayed by bad weather and attacked the road bridge from 2000 m. One aircraft belly-landed near Achmer.
