Interesting, many thanks. This may well explain why this wk.nr was also partially visible on the weathered tail of 14798 (my other query). It may have been parted out and the tailfin used as a replacement on that aircraft at some stage. Remnants of paint show a desert theatre finish. Actually when the wreck of 14798 was recovered in the nineties, an African beetle was discovered (long dead of course!), so at least one of these G-2s may well have served in Nth Africa... regards Dave
